#210: Heather Ellis – Marketing music with Pandora AMP

Are you use Pandora AMP? It’s a no-brainer; DIY musicians should absolutely take advantage of these powerful (free) features of Pandora’s streaming service, particularly the Artist Audio Messages and Featured Track tools. In this episode, Kevin interviews Heather Ellis of the Pandora AMP team to explore how AMP and Next Big Sound can be used to support the release of singles and albums, tours, music promotion initiatives, and more.

The Pandora Amp Playbook is HERE.

My music has been on CD Baby for years, but it still doesn’t show up on Pandora. What gives?

  • Tommunch

I’ve submitted music and been rejected by Pandora in the past, but this podcast made it sound like anyone on CD Baby would also be on Pandora if distribution was turned on. Mine is turned on, but I’m not on Pandora.

I agree. Pandora thinks it is too good for indie music, including songs by artists with lots of awards and favorable reviews, who can be heard on every other streaming service. Most of your DIY musician podcasts are excellent and relevent but this is one I will skip. Pandora is irrelevant to indie musicians.

You should do this same topic with someone from Spotify or similar streaming service that actually cares about indie musicians.
